Meeting of the President with the Minister of Defense

According to UATV: On January 14, 2023, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting with the newly appointed Minister of Defense Mykhailo Fedorov. During the meeting, the priorities of the defense ministry's work were discussed, particularly the issues of airspace protection and ensuring funding for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized the importance of air defense, stating:

'The main thing is to protect the sky'. Volodymyr Zelensky

The President also noted that the technological component must be significantly strengthened in coordination with military personnel to stop the advance of Russian occupiers. These issues, according to the head of state, are critically important for the effective execution of defense tasks.

The Need for Changes in Mobilization

In addition, Volodymyr Zelensky stressed the need for large-scale changes in the mobilization process. This issue, he said, requires urgent resolution to ensure the readiness of the Armed Forces for the challenges that the country faces.

It is noteworthy that the appointment of Mykhailo Fedorov as Minister of Defense was supported by the Verkhovna Rada on the same day that Denys Shmyhal was appointed Minister of Energy. These personnel changes occur in the context of the need to strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities in the face of growing threats.

The appointment of the new Minister of Defense and the discussion of the priorities of the defense ministry's activities indicate the urgency of reforms in the military sphere, which has become particularly relevant against the backdrop of constant threats from Russia. Emphasizing the importance of airspace protection and mobilizing resources indicates Ukraine's strategic course aimed at enhancing defense capabilities and adapting to new security challenges.
