Zelensky appointed commander of UAV air defense systems: new tasks.
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has approved Colonel Yuriy Cherevashenko as the commander of unmanned aerial systems for air defense. The corresponding order regarding this appointment was signed by Minister of Defense Denys Shmyhal. This was reported by 'Glavkom' with reference to the Office of the President.
New tasks for the commander
According to inkorr.com: The new commander faces a number of important tasks discussed at a meeting of the Staff. The main priorities include active use of drones, in particular interceptor drones, as well as modernization of Ukraine's air defense system using modern types of weapons.
It is known that the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, signed a decree to dismiss the deputies of the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine. This is known from decrees No. 831/2025 and No. 832/2025.
Changes in the NSDC team
Dismissed:
- Sergiy Demedyuk from the position of Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine;
- Andriy Kononenko from the position of Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.
Recall that on November 3, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, signed a decree approving the new structure of the Office of the National Security and Defense Council. According to Umierov, the new structure focuses on key national security areas: war and victory, development of the defense-industrial complex, cybersecurity and information policy, economic and energy security, external and internal security.
With a new leader in the field of unmanned aerial systems for air defense, Ukraine plans to intensify the implementation of cutting-edge technologies and modernization of military systems to ensure national security. At the same time, changes in the composition of the Office of the National Security and Defense Council indicate strategic transformations in the management of the country's defense policy.
