Ukraine Seeks US License to Produce Missiles Capable of Countering Russian Ballistic Threats.
Statement from Ukraine's President
According to UATV: On March 10, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy told NATO partners and representatives that Ukraine requires a license from the United States to manufacture missiles designed to intercept Russian ballistic weapons. This request highlights Ukraine's ongoing effort to bolster its air defense capabilities against sophisticated Russian attacks.
Zelenskyy noted he has already discussed this matter with NATO leadership and the current U.S. administration. He emphasized that, as of now, the license for missile production has not yet been granted.
“I have personally raised these issues with partners to seek assistance from NATO leadership. I also spoke with the current administration of the United States of America. So far, we have not received the license,” stated Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
This statement underscores the critical role of international support for Ukraine's defense needs and its resistance to aggression. The issue of securing the U.S. license remains a pressing matter given the current security situation in the region.
Significance of the Missile Production License
Acquiring a license to produce these missiles is a vital step for Ukraine, as it would significantly enhance the country's defensive capacity against Russian aggression. Collaboration with NATO and the U.S., along with access to new technologies, could substantially improve the effectiveness of the Ukrainian armed forces.
By highlighting this aspect, Zelenskyy stresses the urgent need to intensify dialogue with international partners to ensure the nation's security.
