Azerbaijan Stands Ready to Facilitate Peace Negotiations

According to UATV: Hikmet Hajiyev, an aide to the President of Azerbaijan, announced at the 4th Shusha Media Forum that his country is prepared to serve as a venue for peace negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, provided both parties agree. He emphasized that Azerbaijan maintains a neutral stance in the talks and does not propose any specific settlement model for the conflict.

'Azerbaijan does not have its own settlement model. We cannot impose anything. But what we can do, if both sides accept such a decision, is to become a completely impartial platform for real discussions in the negotiation process and conflict resolution. And the sooner, the better,' — Hikmet Hajiyev

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev also shared his views on the situation. He stated that 'it is impossible to defeat a people striving for independence and the preservation of their identity,' highlighting the importance of national identity. Additionally, Aliyev noted that 'the assessment of Russia's aggression against Ukraine remains unchanged,' reflecting the country's consistent position on the aggression.

Prospects for Dialogue Between Ukraine and Russia

In this way, Azerbaijan is offering its assistance in organizing dialogue between Ukraine and Russia, maintaining neutrality and the potential to become an effective platform for peace talks.

Azerbaijan's proposal could mark a significant step toward finding paths to peace, given the prolonged tensions between Ukraine and Russia. The country's neutral stance may help foster a conducive environment for discussion and potential conflict resolution, though the success of these negotiations will depend on both sides' willingness to engage in constructive dialogue. Such initiatives also highlight Azerbaijan's growing role on the international stage as a mediator in conflicts.
