Zelensky: Ukraine is ready to end the war, the next steps are up to the world.
According to FREEДOM:
Ukraine's readiness to end the war
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the country intends to end the war. This week, negotiations are planned with Turkey, the countries of the Persian Gulf, and Europe, which could serve as platforms for dialogue with Russia. Zelensky noted that further steps will depend on the international community and pressure on Russia. This information was released by the president on August 26, on the 1280th day of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, as reported by FREEДОМ.
Contacts with international partners
He emphasized that he is actively cooperating with all partners who are part of the 'coalition of the willing', at both military and political levels.
'Europe, the United States of America. The Commander-in-Chief, the Minister of Defense, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Office — everyone who is needed, all involved. Every day there are contacts with our partners — negotiations, meetings. It is important that everything is as practical as possible: what forces are on land, in the sky, at sea — everything must be clearly defined. And the foundation of security is a strong Ukrainian army, our defense forces. So, funding for the army and providing it with weapons — all of this will happen,' said Zelensky.
The president thanked all partners for their support of Ukraine and emphasized the importance of speeding up work on all issues.
Meeting with British military leaders
Zelensky also held a meeting with the current head of the UK Armed Forces and his successor.
'We discussed both the front and our prospects, as well as key points of future security guarantees. We greatly appreciate our cooperation with Britain,' he reported.
Future negotiations
The president announced that this week there would be contacts with Turkey, Gulf states, and Europe, which could become platforms for negotiations with Russia.
'From our side, everything will be as ready as possible to end the war. It is important that our partners confirm this. And further everything will depend only on the will of world leaders, primarily from the USA, to pressure Russia. Currently, new steps, new pressure are needed: sanctions, tariffs — all of this must be on the table. We discussed this with General Kellogg, we are working very substantively with the Americans. After our meeting in Washington, we have a new foundation for joint work. This is important,' the president stressed.
He also noted that Russia shows no desire to move to real negotiations.
'This can only be changed with strong sanctions and significant pressure. We are taking all necessary steps. I want to thank our warriors — Ukrainian drones, Ukrainian missiles are indeed working well. Russian logistics, Russian fuel infrastructure feel this,' Zelensky noted.
The military and the Security Service of Ukraine reported on the ongoing operations.
'Our active operations, defensive actions — we will continue this, the enemy leaves us no other options,' the president said.
Preparation for the heating season
Today he also discussed with the Prime Minister of Ukraine the preparation for the heating season and held a meeting with the diplomatic team of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Office of the President.
Government agencies, including military and diplomatic, are actively preparing to strengthen the country's defense capability and support its livelihood. In addition, Ukraine needs to continue diligent work with international partners to implement new initiatives that may help end the conflict. It is important not to lose time and to respond quickly to challenges, as the future of the country depends on these efforts.'We are preparing new contacts with the leaders of partner countries. We expect that the coming weeks will be very active,' the head of state added.
