Zelenskyy's Remarks on Negotiations with Russia

According to Novyny.live: In an interview with the Financial Times, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Moscow is not serious about negotiations. He called on U.S. President Donald Trump to halt these talks, emphasizing that Ukraine requires a ceasefire backed by concrete security guarantees, as tensions remain dangerously high.

Zelenskyy asserted that Ukraine and Russia are at the 'beginning of the end' of this conflict. He believes Russia is using the negotiation process primarily to avoid angering the United States. The Ukrainian president also expressed his view that Vladimir Putin has effectively started a Third World War, underscoring the grave global stakes.

'The war could restart. The truce could collapse. We don't need a pause. We need the war to end,' Volodymyr Zelenskyy

Furthermore, he stressed his disbelief in the sincerity of Russia's demands, considering their strategy to be one of manipulation. 'Frankly, I don't believe that's all Russia is demanding. That we withdraw our troops from Donbas, and then the war ends. Russia is Russia and, you know, they cannot be trusted,' the president added.

In conclusion, Zelenskyy noted that 'they are very bad actors. They are playing games with Trump and with the whole world.'

These comments from Ukraine's leader highlight the severity and complexity of the situation surrounding Ukrainian-Russian relations and the urgent need for effective international guarantees to secure peace. With the conflict escalating and deep distrust between the sides, Ukraine's position is becoming increasingly critical for shaping an international policy that could determine the future course of events in the region. The ongoing war in eastern Ukraine, which began in 2014, has resulted in over 14,000 deaths and remains a major point of contention between Russia and the West.
