The central topic was preparing a draft law concerning the Emerald Network—a European conservation initiative. Attendees included Iryna Fedoriv, Andrii Tupikov, and Yaroslav Tereshun. Key discussions revolved around environmental protection legislation, the quality of environmental impact assessments, and obstruction by regulatory authorities.

The gathering also addressed issues linked to an international biodiversity database, reflecting a broad commitment to preserving the Carpathians' natural resources and ecosystems. During the meeting, it emerged that the company 'Wind Parks of Ukraine' plans to build wind farms at over 10 locations in the Zakarpattia region. The total capacity of these turbines would exceed 1.73 gigawatts.

Wind Farm Construction and Environmental Challenges

Construction on Polonyna Runa—one of the designated sites—is scheduled to begin in spring 2025. Notably, in February 2026, Ukraine's Ministry of Economy issued a positive assessment for the wind farm on Runa. However, the project would require clearing 40 hectares of forest, raising concerns among environmental organizations and local activists. These issues demand further dialogue and coordination among all stakeholders to strike a balance between energy development and nature conservation.
