Zelenskyy Warns Middle East Conflict Could Jeopardize Ukraine's Air Defense Supplies.
Ukrainian President's Concerns Over Air Defense Deliveries
According to Novyny.live: In an interview with Rai Italia, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed concern that the ongoing war in the Middle East could lead to a reduction in supplies of air defense systems and missiles to Ukraine. He indicated that risks to Ukraine's provision of air defense assets could emerge due to shifting priorities in the United States amid a prolonged conflict.
Zelenskyy highlighted 'concerns based on signals from the United States of America' that America might cut back on missile deliveries for air defense if the conflict becomes protracted. He also stated that using Patriot missiles to shoot down Iranian drones is 'irrational,' given Ukraine's significant experience in countering these unmanned aerial vehicles. This warning comes as Ukraine faces continued aerial bombardment from Russian forces, making robust air defenses critical for protecting its cities and infrastructure.
Ukraine's Readiness to Share Expertise
Furthermore, the president noted that Kyiv is prepared to offer its expertise to other nations regarding Ukraine's experience in combating Iranian drones.
“Nothing is too much for saving people... our country will be open to this,” Zelenskyy emphasized.
Given potential shifts in international arms supplies, Ukraine continues to work on strengthening its defensive capabilities and cooperating with international partners seeking to apply Ukrainian expertise. Maintaining open communication channels with allies and preserving readiness for collaboration remains vital for the country during this challenging period.
The concerns voiced by President Zelenskyy underscore the critical importance of international military aid for Ukraine, especially within the context of the ongoing war with Russia. A change in U.S. priorities could significantly impact the country's defensive strength, which is why Kyiv continues active negotiations with allies regarding support and the provision of necessary resources. The situation in the Middle East has also affected global military shipments, making the issue of arms supplies even more pressing for Ukraine.
