Ukrainian President Visits Ireland
According to UATV: Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukraine’s president, has landed in Ireland to take part in the opening ceremony marking Ireland’s presidency of the Council of the European Union. During his stay, he is scheduled to hold several high-level meetings, including:
- a discussion with Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin;
- a meeting with European Council President António Costa.
These talks will center on key aspects of Ukraine’s collaboration with its European allies.
Sweden Defense Deal Signed
Another major development is the signing of a contract between Ukraine and Sweden for the purchase of 16 multirole Gripen E fighter jets. The agreement was finalized during Zelenskyy’s meeting with Swedish Defense Minister Pål Jonson.
Zelenskyy stated: 'Ukraine proves every day that it deserves to be an equal part of our shared European home. We hope that during Ireland’s EU Council presidency, we can make real progress toward membership and open all negotiation clusters.'
This visit underscores the ongoing support Ukraine receives from European partners amid challenging times. The high-level engagements and the Swedish deal highlight Kyiv’s efforts to bolster its defense capabilities and deepen its integration into European institutions.
