Zelenskyy Outlines Plan to Revitalize Ukraine's Rural Communities.
President Zelenskyy Proposes New Strategy for Rural Development
According to Novyny.live: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in a statement made on February 8, emphasized the urgent need to establish new conditions for the development of the country's villages. He argued that attracting people to rural areas requires not just creating opportunities but also ensuring their sustained presence, with a focus on supporting the private sector. This initiative comes at a critical time as Ukraine seeks to stabilize its economy and reverse population decline in its regions.
Zelenskyy pointed to existing partial credit programs for villages as a potential first step toward improving local economies. He stated that state-owned enterprises are not the optimal solution for development in every village, stressing instead the importance of fostering a favorable environment for private business creation in rural localities.

Furthermore, the President announced that ten new export centers are set to open in Europe this year, which he sees as an additional opportunity for Ukrainian villages to access international markets.
Zelenskyy also linked rural development to national security, announcing new sanctions against Russian missile and drone manufacturers. He believes these measures can positively impact Ukrainian villages by contributing to regional stability and safety.
The President's statement underscores the necessity of a comprehensive strategy for rural development in Ukraine, particularly amid ongoing economic challenges and outward migration. Supporting the private sector and attracting investment could generate new jobs and improve living standards, potentially stemming the population drain from these areas.
Adopting international best practices and developing export channels could further integrate Ukrainian villages into the global economy, a vital step for their recovery and long-term growth.
