Zelenskyy Expresses Hope for Peace in Ukraine This Year
According to Novyny.live: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has voiced his hope that the war in Ukraine can be concluded this year, with the support of the United States and Europe. He made this statement on February 6 during a prayer breakfast in Washington, D.C., highlighting the crucial role of international assistance in achieving peace. This comes as Ukraine continues to defend its sovereignty against a full-scale Russian invasion that began in February 2022.
Zelenskyy noted that Ukrainian officials are engaged in negotiations with Russia. He expressed gratitude to America and the U.S. President for their efforts in helping to restore peace to Ukraine.
“We sincerely hope that together with you, with America, with our European friends and other countries, we can end this war this year,”

Simultaneously, the Ukrainian President emphasized that Russia is actively attempting to destroy Ukraine's power plants and energy grid. In this context, Zelenskyy stressed the urgent need for sufficient air defense systems to secure Ukrainian airspace and enable recovery from attacks.
“Therefore, it is important for us to have enough air defense for safe skies and to recover after strikes,”

Zelenskyy also met with Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna to discuss potential sanctions that could be applied in the context of the war. “And I thank you for every action and every prayer that helps make this possible,” he concluded, calling for the continuation of international support for Ukraine. The international community's sustained backing is seen as vital for Ukraine's defense and diplomatic efforts.
