Visit of the President of Ukraine to Great Britain
On August 26, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky met with the former head of the British Defense Staff, Admiral Antony Radakin, and his successor, Air Marshal Richard Knighton. During the conversation, they discussed the situation at the front, diplomatic efforts to end the war, and security guarantees for Ukraine. This was reported by FREEДОМ.
Discussion of the needs of the Ukrainian military
Key needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the supply of necessary weapons were raised at the meeting. In particular, they emphasized the financing of Ukrainian drone production, strengthening the army, developing joint projects, and conducting training missions.
Zelensky expressed gratitude to Great Britain for the support the country has provided since the first days of the war.
“We are very grateful to you, your country, your government, and the people for the strong support they have given us from the very beginning of this war. We thank the Prime Minister of Great Britain, Keir Starmer, for his active participation in this process and in the 'coalition of the willing,' as well as for their support,” he emphasized.
Admiral Radakin also briefed Zelensky on coordination with partners and his negotiations in Washington.
“Our support for Ukraine is not about personalities, but about the will of the people. Richard Knighton will continue to provide you with the same level of assistance,” assured the head of the British Defense Staff.
It is noteworthy that on August 20, Great Britain announced new sanctions aimed at the financial networks that Russia uses to circumvent Western restrictions.
This meeting underscores the ongoing support of Great Britain for Ukraine in wartime and the importance of international coordination on security issues. Security guarantees and military assistance remain key topics in discussions between Kyiv and London, indicating the seriousness of the situation in the region.
