Zelensky explained how Trump can influence Ukraine's prospects in NATO.
Zelensky: NATO membership will depend on Trump
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, stated that the issue of Ukraine joining NATO will largely depend on Donald Trump's position if he becomes President of the United States. Zelensky made this statement during a meeting with representatives of the International Media Council in Davos.
According to Zelensky's words, for many years some countries have pursued an opaque policy regarding Ukraine's accession to the Alliance. He expressed dissatisfaction that Ukraine has not become a NATO member after decades of negotiations and weak support from the U.S. and Germany. 'If Trump is ready to see Ukraine in NATO, we will be in NATO, everyone will be for it. If President Trump is not ready to see us in NATO – we will not be in NATO,' the president emphasized.
NATO takes on a key role in supporting Ukraine
NATO leadership states that Moscow shows no signs of readiness for peace, and the Alliance is taking appropriate measures. NATO also plays a crucial role in supporting Ukraine by creating aid mechanisms that are independent of political changes in any country.
Moreover, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine is participating in the NATO project 'MILGRID', aimed at developing technologies to ensure the reliable operation of power grids using renewable energy sources.
