Latvia Bans Two Ukrainian Actors for Pro-Russia Propaganda: They Are Now Persona Non Grata.
Latvia Declares Pro-Russian Actors Persona Non Grata
According to Espreso.tv: Latvia has declared Ukrainian actors Volodymyr Moiseienko and Volodymyr Danylets persona non grata for their involvement in Russian Federation propaganda. The entry ban for these individuals is indefinite. The order was signed by Latvian Foreign Minister Baiba Braže.
Involvement in Propaganda Activities
Volodymyr Moiseienko and Volodymyr Danylets have been listed in the 'Myrotvorets' database since 2019. They participated in a Russian information and propaganda provocation called the 'Telemost between Russia and Ukraine: We Need to Talk'. Both actors also supported the occupation of Crimea and visited it multiple times after 2014. In 2020, they performed in Vitebsk at a festival alongside Russian stars who support the policies of President Vladimir Putin.
This decision by Latvia is part of the country's broader policy to counter Russian propaganda and influence in the region. By declaring Moiseienko and Danylets persona non grata, Latvia underscores its commitment to protecting its national interests and supporting Ukraine's sovereignty. Such steps may also influence other Baltic and Eastern European countries that are considering tightening measures against pro-Russian figures in their regions.
