Zelensky on the shortage of interceptor drones: manufacturers cannot keep up with demand.
According to ТСН: Ukraine is facing a shortage of interceptor drones, which are necessary to protect against massive attacks from Russia. Despite the high effectiveness of this technology, domestic manufacturers are currently unable to meet the needs of the front and rear.
The President of Ukraine stated this during a meeting with the employees of the diplomatic service.
State of drone production
The President noted that interceptor drones are an important tool for air defense, but their effectiveness depends on the manufacturer. Several companies operate in Ukraine, but their performance in hitting targets varies significantly.
“I believe this is a very good weapon. It shows good results. There are several companies that produce them. To be frank, not all of them show a one-hundred-percent result — different companies achieve from 60 to 90 percent. In any case, we are ramping up this direction, and the characteristics are improving. There are already, as I mentioned, several advanced companies,” the President emphasized.
Production problems
According to the President, the main obstacle to fully securing airspace is not only funding but also the technical capabilities of enterprises to manufacture the necessary number of drones within short deadlines. In a situation where attacks on the energy system are possible during the winter holidays, the demand for these drones has reached its peak.
“There aren't enough interceptors, and the issue is no longer about money, or not just about money. Money is always in short supply, but right now with interceptors, it is not just a financial issue. There are technical issues; manufacturers cannot keep up with the production of what we need right now,” the President noted.
Zelensky also emphasized that the state is doing everything possible to improve the characteristics of drones and is supporting manufacturers in increasing production capacities.
The President warned that in the coming days, the Russians could launch a massive strike on Ukraine.
Earlier, he noted that the Russian army has significantly increased the intensity of attacks in recent weeks.
This situation underscores the importance of ramping up drone production in Ukraine, as the relevance of their use in modern military conflicts continues to grow. Effective air defense can significantly influence the country's ability to resist new threats, making the implementation and improvement of interceptor drones a priority of state policy.
