According to TSN.ua: In an interview with POLITICO, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy argued that the United States should focus its pressure on Russia, not Ukraine, to bring the war to a close. Zelenskyy pointed out that Russian President Vladimir Putin is deliberately prolonging negotiations and has not abandoned his plans to seize the entire Donbas region. This stance comes as Ukraine continues to defend its sovereignty against a full-scale invasion that began in February 2022.

Zelenskyy noted that Europe continues to provide Ukraine with financial aid and other resources. However, he stated that the U.S. position regarding compromises is misguided, as it implies that Ukraine, not Russia, should be the one making concessions.

"From what I see, they [the U.S.] are signaling more that compromises should be made by Ukraine, not Russia. This is not the correct position," Zelenskyy said.

The Need for Pressure on Russia

The Ukrainian President also stressed that pressure on Russia must be sufficient to force a change in its stance.

"Until the pressure is enough, they will keep playing games," he declared.

Consequently, Zelenskyy is calling for more active pressure on Russia from the international community to alter the course of negotiations and secure peace for Ukraine. His comments underscore a critical divergence in diplomatic approaches between Kyiv and some of its allies.
