Russia struck energy infrastructure with ballistic missiles: Zelensky named the consequences.
According to ТСН: On the night of January 13, the Russian army again launched missile and drone strikes on energy facilities in various regions of Ukraine. As a result of the attacks, residential and civilian infrastructure was damaged.
The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky reported that the main target of the strikes was the energy infrastructure:
“Again, the main target of the strike is our energy sector: generation, substations. There is a lot of destruction to residential and civilian infrastructure. The Dnipropetrovsk region, Zhytomyr region, Zaporizhzhia, Kyiv region, Odesa region, Sumy region, Kharkiv region, Donetsk region were hit.”
According to the head of state, Russian missiles hit a postal terminal in Korotych, Kharkiv region, resulting in the deaths of four people.
Situation in the regions
The President noted that the situation in Kyiv region remains complicated, as hundreds of thousands of families are left without electricity. “Points of Resilience” are operational in the populated areas.
“Each such strike against life is a reminder that support for Ukraine cannot stop. Missiles for air defense systems are needed every day, especially during winter. The world can respond to this terror with new packages of assistance. We expect to expedite the supplies of what has already been agreed with America and Europe. Russia must understand that winter will not help them win the war,” emphasized Volodymyr Zelensky.
Additional strikes
The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that on this night Russia struck with ballistic missiles and drones. They launched more than 20 ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as 293 attack UAVs. The strikes with ballistic missiles were directed at the Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, and Kyiv regions.
In addition, the Russians again attacked DTEK thermal power plants. As a result of this attack, the equipment of the thermal power station was significantly damaged. In Odesa region, it became known about the destruction of two energy facilities, as a result of which about 47 thousand families were left without electricity.
These incidents once again confirm that energy infrastructure remains under constant threat from the aggressor. Improving the situation in the country requires not only restoring electricity supply but also significant efforts from the international community to ensure Ukraine's defense capability. It is important to continue supporting the country to face these challenges and ensure the safety of citizens' lives.
