Zelenskyy Invites Slovak PM Fico to Kyiv, but Meeting Location Remains Unsettled.
Ukrainian and Slovak Leaders Hold Talks
According to Novyny.live: On March 2, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a conversation with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico. During the call, Zelenskyy extended an invitation for Fico to visit Kyiv. While Fico agreed to a meeting, he suggested holding it in a different country instead.
Zelenskyy expressed his disagreement with this proposal, stating:
'I believe this is the wrong approach. First, the Prime Minister agreed to come to Ukraine, and second, the conversation is here, the oil pipeline is here—why should we go somewhere else? It seems to me we shouldn't be communicating on social networks; we should simply meet in person and achieve concrete results from our discussion.' Volodymyr Zelenskyy
Consequently, the location for the meeting remains undecided. The Ukrainian president stressed that a face-to-face encounter is crucial for achieving tangible outcomes. This diplomatic exchange highlights the ongoing challenges in coordinating high-level European dialogues amidst the war.
Ukraine-Slovakia Cooperation
This discussion takes place against a backdrop of increasingly vital cooperation between Ukraine and Slovakia, particularly concerning energy security and regional stability. High-level engagement between the two nations' leaders could help strengthen bilateral relations and address shared challenges, such as securing energy transit routes critical to Europe.
