Living in his phone: SBU revealed unique details of the special operation to detain a traitor.

The Security Service of Ukraine revealed and detained an employee who collaborated with the Russian FSB. The Antiterrorist Center headquarters was used for disinformation against the enemy before the detention, the SBU stated.

The SBU conducted an operation named 'Rat', as a result of which an agent was discovered and detained.

'The traitor had been under the control of the special services for a long Time. We tracked every step he took - contacts, communication, correspondence, were in his phone, he was under audio and video surveillance,' said the Head of the SBU, Vasyl Maliuk.

The head of the special service emphasized that the operation was conducted under the personal control of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky.

The detained agent was recruited by the FSB in 2018 in Vienna. His connection with Russian curators was re-established at the end of December 2024.

According to the investigation, the agent engaged in espionage activities by gathering information about the location of troops, the armament of the Security and Defense Forces, the state of critical infrastructure facilities, the results of missile strikes, military-political leadership, and the operation of state registries after a cyberattack.

'This operation demonstrates that the SBU is able to respond quickly to threats and effectively counter the enemy. We continue the cleansing since the beginning of the invasion,' emphasized Vasyl Maliuk.

The Security Service identified the FSB curator and uncovered his connection with the agent. The parents of the detainee also are involved in the case, they are to be announced as suspects.

The agent has been charged under Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, and he faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The operation was carried out by the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.
