The Trial of Dmytro Kozyura

According to Espreso.tv: Dmytro Kozyura, the former head of the SBU's Anti-Terrorist Center headquarters, has been convicted of high treason and illegal weapons handling. He had been passing classified information to Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB). Ukrainian law enforcement apprehended him in February 2025 during a covert operation codenamed 'Rat'.

Court proceedings revealed that Kozyura had been collaborating with the FSB since 2018. Investigators documented 14 separate instances of his illegal activities, which formed the basis for the charges against him. The day after his arrest, he was placed in custody without the possibility of bail. SBU Chief Vasyl Malyuk personally oversaw the operation, taking an active role in the detention.

A Threat to National Security

Authorities reported that Kozyura reestablished contact with the FSB in late 2024. Given the ongoing state of war, the court deemed his actions a grave crime that posed a direct threat to Ukraine's national security. Now, Kozyura faces the full weight of the law for conduct intended to harm Ukraine during a critical period for the country.

This case highlights the urgent need to combat treason and espionage during wartime, when safeguarding national security is paramount. Kozyura's conviction sends a clear message that state traitors will be held accountable, while also showcasing the vigilance of Ukrainian law enforcement agencies in countering threats from external adversaries.
