According to Novyny.live: A new initiative provides up to $400 (around 17,700 hryvnias) to eligible residents of the Mykolaiv region for developing home-based agriculture. At the same time, local entrepreneurs can apply for grants of up to $20,000. These programs are run jointly by the charitable organization 'Shchedryk' and the UN World Food Programme (WFP), aiming to boost economic resilience in the area.
Eligibility and Requirements
In the first phase, the assistance targets residents of the Snihurivka community. Ukrainians with experience in farming who belong to vulnerable groups are invited to apply. Vulnerable categories include:
- single parents
- people with disabilities
- individuals aged 60 or older
- large families
- low-income households
- internally displaced persons
Approved uses for the funds cover:
- growing vegetables and fruits
- gardening
- setting up greenhouses
- raising pigs, poultry, and cattle
- purchasing animal feed
For entrepreneurs, support options include grants ranging from $1,500 to $5,000, a larger $20,000 grant, and greenhouse kits covering at least 90 square meters. These grants are available to business owners from the Snihurivka, Shevchenkivka, Shyroke, Zavodske, and Bereznehuvate communities.
Overall, this project opens up significant opportunities for Mykolaiv region residents to expand personal farms and small businesses, which could strengthen the local economy. By fostering self-sufficiency among vulnerable groups and creating new jobs, the initiative aims to improve living standards and stimulate regional development.
