UAF has withdrawn from Siversk: how the situation is developing in Donetsk region.
Combat actions in Siversk
According to ТСН: Intense combat actions continue in the Siversk region of Donetsk. Due to the significant numerical superiority of the enemy in personnel and equipment, Ukrainian units were forced to retreat from the populated area to preserve combat readiness and the lives of servicemen.
This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Telegram.
"Heavy fighting is ongoing in the Siversk area. Russian occupiers have a significant advantage in personnel and equipment and, despite substantial losses, continue active offensive actions. To preserve the lives of our soldiers and the combat capability of units, Ukrainian defenders withdrew from the populated area," the message states.
The General Staff emphasizes that during the battles for Siversk, the defense forces inflicted significant losses on the enemy and exhausted their resources.
"Every meter of the city has come at a high cost to the enemy. Occupiers were able to advance only due to their significant numerical advantage and constant pressure from small assault groups under difficult weather conditions," the message adds.
Despite the withdrawal of UAF units, the city remains under the fire control of the Ukrainian army.
"The occupiers in the city are being targeted, and their logistics are being disrupted. Steps are being taken to block enemy units to prevent their further advance," the General Staff reported.
Furthermore, it was previously mentioned that the report from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) indicated that Russian forces likely captured Siversk after 41 months of fighting.
The situation in Siversk remains tense, as the city continues to be an important strategic object. After the withdrawal, Ukrainian forces are trying to conserve their resources for further defense while inflicting losses on the enemy from positions that provide fire control. This indicates the complexity and duration of the conflict in the region.
