Trump refused Ukraine Tomahawks: what was discussed with Zelensky in Washington.
According to inkorr.com: On Friday, October 17, US President Donald Trump met with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House to renew efforts to end the war between Russia and Ukraine. The meeting took place without significant disagreements between the parties.
Trump denied Ukraine the purchase of long-range 'Tomahawk' missiles, stating that it is not so easy to implement. Missiles of this type could give Ukraine the ability to strike Russian facilities, including the Kremlin's energy infrastructure.
Aspirations for peace and insults to Maduro
Trump noted that ending the conflict between Ukraine and Russia is possible, referencing the peace between Israel and Hamas. In turn, Zelensky emphasized that Putin does not support negotiations, ignoring pressure from Trump.
During the meeting, Trump also expressed his admiration for Zelensky's style and wardrobe, considering him stylish and elegant, especially in light of the criticism of the Ukrainian leader regarding his appearance at the White House last year.
Trump also criticized Spain for low defense spending, reminding of the commitments agreed upon at the NATO Summit.
One of the most emotional moments was Trump's reaction to Maduro — the US president expressed his dislike and refused to deal with the Venezuelan leader.
Zelensky, in turn, responded to Trump's call for Russia and Ukraine to 'stop where they are.'
As a result of the meeting, Trump and Zelensky discussed issues of peaceful resolution of the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, and also expressed a shared aspiration for peace in the region. Both leaders emphasized the importance of dialogue and cooperation to achieve stability.
