FSB Agents Sentenced to 15 Years for Plotting Attack on Azov Fighters.
Arrests Made in Terror Plot Case
According to Espreso.tv: Two individuals have been handed 15-year prison sentences for conspiring to carry out a terrorist attack against members of the 12th Special Purpose Brigade 'Azov' on orders from the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB). The court found both defendants guilty under three articles of the Criminal Code and also ordered the confiscation of their property. This case highlights ongoing efforts to counter foreign intelligence operations targeting Ukrainian military personnel.
The perpetrators planned to place an improvised explosive device under a vehicle used by Azov brigade fighters. To execute their scheme, the agents intended to install a hidden camera that would provide remote access for Russian intelligence services. Both individuals had prior criminal records for robbery and drug trafficking. One of them came to the FSB's attention through his wife, who resides in Berdyansk.
Apprehension and Aftermath
The suspects were caught red-handed in Zaporizhzhia. During a search, authorities seized components for the improvised explosive device, as well as mobile phones containing evidence of their criminal activities. The judicial system has thus taken necessary measures to punish those who attempted to threaten the safety of military personnel.
This case underscores the seriousness of threats facing military units in Ukraine, particularly from foreign intelligence agencies. Ensuring the security of soldiers defending the country remains a top priority for law enforcement bodies.
The arrests and subsequent trial serve as a warning to other potential criminals that attempts to destabilize the situation in Ukraine will not go unpunished.
