EU Pledges €90 Billion in Aid to Ukraine; First Installment Arrives June 25.
Statement by EU Commissioner Andrius Kubilius
According to UATV: European Commissioner Andrius Kubilius stated that Ukraine’s successful strikes on Russian targets carry strategic importance and shape how the war is perceived inside Russia. He emphasized that mounting pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin is driven by Ukraine’s strength on the front lines, including deep-strike operations.
EU Support for Ukraine
The European Union will continue backing Ukraine with a €90 billion aid package spread over two years. The first tranche, amounting to €3.2 billion, is scheduled for delivery on June 25. Kubilius also confirmed that the EU will maintain all sanctions against Russia, particularly regarding oil and gas trade. He noted that the bloc is actively exploring ways to further limit Russia’s ability to fund its military operations.
These EU measures are designed to bolster Ukraine’s resistance to aggression and reduce the resources Russia can channel into the war. Ukraine’s strikes on strategic assets signal a shift in battlefield dynamics, making continued international support crucial for future developments.
EU assistance to wartime Ukraine is vital—not only does it provide financial resources, but it also strengthens the morale of Ukrainian forces. Sanctions against Russia form a key part of this support, aiming to curtail Moscow’s war-making capacity. As the front lines evolve, such actions could significantly influence the conflict’s trajectory and the restoration of regional stability.
