Airbus Partners with UBTech to Deploy Humanoid Robots in Aircraft Manufacturing.
Humanoid Robots Join the Airbus Assembly Line
According to Novyny.live: Airbus has entered into a partnership with Chinese robotics firm UBTech to integrate its Walker S2 humanoid robots into aircraft manufacturing processes. Designed for industrial use, the Walker S2 stands 1.76 meters tall and can carry objects weighing up to 15 kilograms. This collaboration marks a significant step toward automating complex tasks in the highly specialized aerospace sector, where precision and reliability are paramount.
Production Scale and Market Demand for Humanoids
UBTech, founded in 2012 and which went public in Hong Kong in late 2023, has already produced 1,000 Walker S2 units at its facility in Liuzhou. The company reported that orders for its humanoid robots reached 1.4 billion yuan (approximately 201 million USD) last year. For the current year, UBTech plans to supply 'tens of thousands' of industrial humanoids, signaling robust demand for advanced automation across global industries. The move into aerospace with a leader like Airbus represents a major validation for humanoid robotics technology.
The alliance between UBTech Robotics and Airbus underscores a broader industry trend of adopting cutting-edge automation, which has the potential to fundamentally transform manufacturing methodologies and boost operational efficiency in aircraft production.
