ADAC advises changing tires every 8-10 years: when it is necessary.
The durability of tires depends on many factors, such as driving style, operating conditions, and rubber quality. It's not worth striving for record longevity, as over time any tire loses its properties.
Experts from the ADAC automobile club recommend changing tires on your car at least every 8-10 years. Even if the tread is still deep, it's important to pay attention to the age of the tire, as rubber ages and hardens, which can affect driving safety and comfort.
Experts recommend changing tires based on the following tread depth indicators:
- Winter and all-season tires: less than 4 mm.
- Summer tires: less than 1.6 mm. Although it is better to change them at 3 mm.
To ensure that tires serve longer, it is important to follow a few simple recommendations:
- Maintain the recommended pressure to avoid uneven wear.
- Avoid mechanical damage that can occur, for example, when hitting a curb.
- Store tires properly, keeping them in a cool, dry, and dark place, away from sunlight.
Taking care of tires and timely replacement is crucial for safety while driving a car. Quality tires, when properly maintained, will help keep the car on the road and protect against the risk of accidents.
