If the heating is turned off: six ways to keep warm at night.
How to keep warm at night without heating
Low temperatures in the home affect the quality of sleep. It is most difficult to keep warm when the heating completely disappears.
But it is quite possible to spend the night relatively comfortably and get enough sleep if you follow certain rules. This is the opinion of a British sleep expert, writes Express.co.uk.
He gave several tips on how to keep warm at night without heating.
Use a mattress topper
Mattress toppers can have different fillers, depending on which the level of heat retention depends. In winter, it is better to use a memory foam or microfiber mattress topper. Such a topper perfectly retains heat and provides an additional level of comfort.
Sleep on a flat sheet
The British expert recommends placing an ordinary flat sheet without elastic over the fitted sheet.
Adding a flat sheet to your bedding set means you have an extra layer of material that retains body heat and keeps your toes warm throughout the night.
Cotton is the best material for flat sheets. It is soft to the touch, durable and retains heat well.
Flannel is one of the thickest bedding materials. Flannel sheets will add warmth and comfort on a cold night.
Hang heavy curtains
Heavy and dense curtains are a good investment in heat retention and will last for many years. They can also significantly affect the temperature in the bedroom.
Use candles and flower pots
You can use tea candles and terracotta flower pots to effectively heat a small room. Place four candles in a small metal tray, and place two flower pots on top.
The ceramic pot absorbs most of the heat from the candles, and the outer pot directs all this heat upward, into the air.
For safety reasons, it is better to stay in the same room as the candles while they are lit. To make sure everything works correctly. They should also be kept as far away from children, pets, and flammable items as possible.
Buy cashmere socks
This is the best material for socks, according to the expert. According to him, cashmere retains three times more heat than standard wool products and fabrics. Therefore, such socks will keep your toes warm all night.
Drink hot drinks before bed
A hot drink before bed will help to raise your body temperature from the inside. Drinks before bed should be caffeine and sugar-free.
In Ukraine, the minimum temperature in homes this winter was reduced to +16°C. Under current conditions, gas and coal need to be used sparingly, said Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.
The cost of utilities in Ukraine has increased. In October, the increase was 5.5% compared to the same period last year. Only the price of gas decreased. The biggest price increase was for housing maintenance and repair services, up by 25.5%.
