American mother of a famous Ukrainian politician captures the demining market.
The Governmental Humanitarian Demining Center signed the first contract for the demining of agricultural lands. The company "Ukrainian Demining Services" (UDS) became the winner of the auction. The company, owned by the mother of former Member of Parliament Maksym Yefimov, is negotiating a partnership with the Swiss company GCS, which manufactures demining machines.
UDS is engaged in demining 144 hectares of agricultural lands, including the work of sappers and robot machines. The company also has the opportunity to win three more tenders for the demining of agricultural land.
Information about Yefimova was already known from the acquisition of the Congress and Exhibition Center through the company "Amadeus Co". According to the analytical system YouControl, she was the owner of "Amadeus Co" for a month, after which the business was transferred to her son Maksym. In 2020, Lyubov Yefimova was fined by the Antimonopoly Committee for acquiring the "Yanukovych helicopter pad" without antitrust approval.
It is important to use innovative demining methods because traditional methods can take a hundred years to clear all Ukrainian land after the war. The local authorities of the Kherson region plan to demine the right bank by the end of 2025, but this depends on the security situation.
