Incident in the Kyiv Region
According to Espreso.tv: During the night of June 27–28, a group of seven individuals abducted two brothers from their home in the Kyiv region. The perpetrators broke into the victims' yard to carry out the crime. In response, police arrested nine servicemen from the 155th Brigade on suspicion of involvement. Among those detained is a battalion commander within the brigade.
Investigation and Fallout
Authorities are currently searching for Stanislav Luchanov, commander of the 155th Separate Mechanized Brigade. He took command of the unit in February 2026 and previously served as chief of staff for the 425th 'Skelya' Regiment. Notably, the State Bureau of Investigation recently detained a soldier from that same regiment on allegations of a brutal assault.
A court has ordered pretrial detention without bail for all suspects in this case. The investigation remains ongoing, with law enforcement working to uncover the full circumstances of the event. This incident highlights serious concerns about misconduct within the military, which could erode public trust in the armed forces. At the same time, the swift police response and transparent probes signal a commitment to holding offenders accountable, regardless of their rank or position. Future inquiries may reveal further details and potential links between military personnel and criminal networks in the region.
