Apple prepares the most affordable MacBook for $599: what is known about the new product.
Apple may release a new affordable MacBook starting at $599 this year, reports DigiTimes citing sources in Asia.
According to DigiTimes, the new MacBook will feature a 12.9-inch display and an A18 Pro processor, already used in the iPhone 16 Pro. It is expected that some components will start being produced at the end of the third quarter of 2025, which could enable the release of devices by the end of the year. The MacBook is expected to be available at a price range from $599 to $699, with an ultra-thin and lightweight body available in Silver, Blue, Pink, and Yellow colors.
The new product may have some limitations, such as the lack of Thunderbolt support due to the use of the A18 Pro chip. However, this is unlikely to affect the device's popularity among buyers looking for an affordable Mac. Annual shipments of the new model are forecasted to reach 5-7 million units, which would increase the overall sales of MacBooks by 30-40%.
Previously, Apple announced the 'most powerful Mac in history', so the new affordable MacBook may be another step towards expanding the company's lineup and attracting new users.
