Russia prepares new border breakthroughs: which regions are at risk

According to ТСН: There is a threat that ground operations by the Russian Federation's troops may be launched in other regions of Ukraine, especially in border areas.

This was stated by military expert Ivan Stupak in an interview.

According to him, Russian military plans to enter the territory of border regions by 10-15 km.

"Currently, the front line is 1218 km long — that is already incredibly much. There is a threat that Russia will try to bite off small pieces of our territory to then negotiate. These territories will be used by the Russians for bargaining," emphasized Stupak.

In the Sumy region, the invaders control 230 sq. km, and there is a likelihood that the Russians will try to expand this zone. The Chernihiv region, which borders Russia, is also at risk.

"Shostka, Hlukhiv, and other settlements in Chernihiv Oblast are at risk. The Russians will act like bedbugs: breaching the border, spreading small distances, and trying to secure themselves there," considers the expert.

Moreover, according to Stupak, Russia will try to blockade Odesa by shelling the port infrastructure. The port is vital for the economy of Ukraine.

"If there is no port — there will be no export of products and financing of the army," summarized Ivan Stupak.

It was also noted that at the end of December, the Russian army breached the border in the Sumy region and kidnapped several residents of the village of Hrabovske. Meanwhile, analysts reported on the occupation of Andriivka, however, Ukrainian military denies this information.

Earlier, the spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Andrii Demchenko, stated that Russia is looking for new breakthrough points in border areas, particularly in the Vovchansk direction in Kharkiv region and within the Khotiivska and Yunakivska communities in Sumy region.

Amid these events, the situation in border regions remains tense. Experts continue to monitor the situation's development, as any attempts to expand territories may lead to serious consequences for Ukraine's security. It is crucial for the Ukrainian side to remain alert and prepared for potential challenges.
