Drone Strike on Nizhyn Leaves Over 400,000 Consumers Without Power.
Drone Attack Targets Nizhyn
According to UATV: A drone attack on the city of Nizhyn has resulted in a power outage affecting more than 400,000 consumers in the Chernihiv region. Vyacheslav Chaus, head of the regional military administration, confirmed the situation, describing it as critical. These attacks on energy infrastructure are part of a wider pattern of strikes that have severely impacted civilian life across Ukraine.
Residents of the regional capital, Chernihiv, have also been left without electricity. Despite the blackout, heating and water supplies in the region continue to function. Throughout the day, Russian forces shelled the Chernihiv region using FPV drones, as well as 'Molniya' and 'Geran' munitions. These attacks damaged houses, destroyed a utility vehicle, and leveled a farm building.
Regional Situation Remains Tense
Earlier reports indicated that an attack on Kharkiv injured 19 people, including one child. The situation in the broader region remains tense and volatile.
These events underscore the growing threat to civilians in Ukraine, which extends beyond physical safety to include access to essential utilities. Strikes on critical infrastructure like power grids can have severe consequences for daily life, especially during the winter months. Such actions also worsen the humanitarian situation in the region, increasing the need for aid and support from the state and international organizations.
