Drone and Missile Strikes Hit Chuhuiv and Kharkiv

According to UATV: On June 9, 2023, the cities of Chuhuiv and Kharkiv came under attack from drones and missiles, causing severe damage to residential buildings, a business center, and a church. In Chuhuiv, a four-story apartment block was destroyed, resulting in the death of a 22-year-old pregnant woman. A day of mourning has been declared in Chuhuiv today to honor those killed.

Chuhuiv experienced five missile strikes, one of which collapsed a residential building. A resident described the scene:

“One strike hit the garages. The second floor above the garages was completely blown off, and the end of the building was hit—we had a barbecue area there. A pregnant girl died. She lived on the first floor. It seems the blast wave killed her.”
Another resident of the destroyed building recalled: “I dropped to the floor, but he was outside and took the blast. I went outside and saw him—he didn’t make it by about three meters to find cover.”

Massive Strike on Kharkiv

Kharkiv faced a large-scale attack involving Shahed-type drones. According to Oleh Syniehubov, the assault damaged nine multi-story apartment buildings, an administrative building, a municipal facility, and a church.

“The city of Kharkiv was under a massive drone attack by enemy Shahed-type UAVs. There were more than twenty in total. Nine apartment buildings were damaged, many cars were destroyed, and strikes hit an administrative building, a municipal building, and even a church. Only civilian infrastructure was affected.”

These events have sparked deep concern among local residents and worsened the situation in the region. The declared day of mourning in Chuhuiv underscores the severity of the attacks, which have impacted not only property but also human lives.

The ongoing hostilities in Ukraine continue to endanger civilians, especially in regions subjected to repeated attacks. The situation in Chuhuiv and Kharkiv highlights the growing threats to the population and the urgent need for measures to protect civilian infrastructure. The escalation of the conflict and the high number of civilian casualties underscore the critical humanitarian crisis in the country.
