March 21 Attack on Kharkiv Oblast: Civilian Casualties and Widespread Destruction
According to Novyny.live: On March 21, 2023, Russian forces launched a devastating assault on Ukraine's Kharkiv region, heavily damaging civilian infrastructure and leaving multiple people injured. The attacks involved guided aerial bombs, drones, and FPV munitions, impacting 11 separate towns and villages across the area. This latest wave of violence underscores the persistent threat to civilians in frontline zones.
The bombardments resulted in 10 wounded individuals, one of whom was a child. In the city of Izium, victims included two men aged 67 and 70, two women aged 74 and 50, and a 14-year-old girl. In the village of Semenivka, part of the Shevchenkivska community, a 68-year-old man was killed, and a 58-year-old woman who sustained injuries later died in the hospital.
Breakdown of the Assault and Its Aftermath
Over the course of the day, military officials recorded the following munitions used against the region:
- 16 guided aerial bombs,
- three Geran-2-type drones,
- one Lancet drone,
- one Molniya-type drone,
- two FPV drones, and
- 14 unidentified drones.
The strikes caused severe structural damage, destroying:
- a warehouse in Prosianka,
- a private home in Novoosynove,
- a residential care facility, and
- five private houses in Oskil.
In Izium, 17 private residences were damaged, prompting the evacuation of 193 people to the town of Lozova.
That same day, 161 combat engagements were reported across the front. On the Southern Slobozhanskyi axis, Russian troops launched seven separate assaults on Ukrainian defensive positions. These events highlight an escalation in military activity and a continued pattern of strikes on civilian infrastructure, endangering local residents.
