Mykolaiv Region's Power Grid Disrupted by Shelling

According to Novyny.live: A nighttime assault by Russian forces on the Mykolaiv region left the city of Mykolaiv and parts of the surrounding district without electricity. This attack is part of a wider pattern of strikes targeting Ukraine's civilian energy infrastructure. Despite the damage, power was fully restored to all consumers by the morning.

The shelling caused an emergency shutdown at the Mykolaiv Thermal Power Plant. As a result, critical infrastructure in the area was forced to switch to backup power supplies. Energy workers, heating specialists, and emergency services worked through the night to reconnect households and businesses.

By early morning, electricity had been restored to all subscribers.

"Energy and heating teams worked all night. As of 07:15, all consumers have been reconnected. I must emphasize that repair work will continue throughout the day. Thank you to everyone who is working!" stated Vitaliy Kim.

This rapid response demonstrates the resilience of Ukrainian utility workers under fire, though the region remains vulnerable to further attacks. The incident highlights the ongoing vulnerability of Ukraine's energy infrastructure amid the ongoing conflict. While the speed of restoration shows the preparedness and efficiency of the services, it also underscores the persistent risks faced by regions under bombardment. Restoring critical infrastructure is a vital step for ensuring stability in the energy sector and maintaining the livelihood of the population.
