Audi Unveils Electric Sports Car Concept C: What We Know About the Successor to the R8

According to Korrespondent.net: Audi officially presented the long-awaited sports car Concept C, which is planned for release in two years in almost unchanged form. According to Motor1, this will be a true return for the company to the sports car segment, as its lineup has been left without any sports car, coupe, or convertible after the discontinuation of the TT and R8 models.

Design and Innovations

The concept showcases a new design language developed under the guidance of creative director Massimo Frascella, who began working on the design in 2024. Audi is aiming for 'radical simplicity', devoid of unnecessary details both externally and internally. The Concept C combines elements from iconic models — from the supercar R8 and the 1991 Avus concept to the legendary racing Auto Union and the 2000 Rosemeyer concept.

One of the main innovations is the vertical frame — a new element of Audi's face, inspired by the classic Auto Union Type C from 1936 and the third generation Audi A6. It emphasizes the front silhouette and enhances brand recognition.

Vehicle Features

The sports car features a two-seat interior and a unique electric folding roof made of two panels. The rear window is absent — it has been replaced with horizontal slats that incorporate a third brake light. The car's dimensions are close to the R8: length 4.52 m, width 1.98 m, height 1.28 m, and wheelbase 2.57 m. It is equipped with 21-inch two-tone wheels and has a weight of 1690 kg — practically the same as the R8 Spyder convertible.

The interior of the Concept C is designed in a minimalist style using natural materials and aluminum elements that create a sense of 'mechanical quality'. The 10.4-inch display can be hidden in the panel, and controls are made through physical aluminum elements. Even the emblem on the steering wheel is made of metal.

Technical Specifications

Regarding technical details, Audi is still keeping the intrigue: both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions are possible. The 800-volt architecture will ensure ultra-fast charging, and the production model will feature exclusively electric drive.

It is worth noting that Audi accidentally published the first photo of this concept too early.
