95-year-old Chinese woman resurrected after six days: found alive in the kitchen.
According to ТСН: Neighbors of the 95-year-old Chinese woman Li Xufen were shocked to learn that the coffin prepared for the funeral turned out to be empty. The woman, who was believed to be dead, was actually found in the kitchen where she had been cooking after six days without any signs of life.
Unexpected 'resurrection'
Li Xufen was a respected elder in the community, so the news of her 'death' shocked everyone. After a serious fall that resulted in a head injury, the woman was found motionless in bed one winter morning, and everyone decided she had died, beginning preparations for the funeral.
The first person to discover Li Xufen alive was her 60-year-old neighbor Chen Qingwan. He brought her breakfast every day, but this time, when he came to wake her, she did not respond to his calls or attempts to rouse her.
"I came to wake her up. No matter how hard I shook her or called her name, she did not respond. I felt something was wrong, checked her breathing — and she was no longer breathing. But her body was still warm,"
— recalled the neighbor about the events of February 2012.
Strange circumstances
After a few days, when Li Xufen was placed in the coffin, the neighbors discovered that the coffin was empty, triggering panic. It later turned out that the woman was actually still alive. Li Xufen was found in the kitchen, where she was sitting on a stool and cooking food.
"I slept for a long time. When I woke up, I felt very hungry and wanted to prepare something. I struggled with the lid for a long time to get out,"
— explained Li Xufen.
Doctors who examined the woman concluded that she had experienced a rare state of 'artificial death,' when breathing temporarily stops, but the body remains warm.
This case reminds us of another incident that happened in Guatemala, where a woman declared dead due to a lack of breathing and brain activity suddenly began to move five hours after the declaration of death, shocking the morgue staff.
This story highlights how important it is to approach the diagnosis of death with caution, as in some cases, instances of 'artificial death' can lead to dangerous mistakes. It remains to be seen how such unusual situations can affect medical practices and what lessons will arise from this case.
