Benidorm to Build Spain's Tallest Skyscraper: What We Know About the Project.

This project is part of a development strategy, as the city, which annually welcomes over 832,000 British tourists, seeks to elevate its status.
The coastal resort, which already has the highest number of skyscrapers per capita in the world, has received permission to build its tallest building.
The local authorities have given the green light for the construction of the luxury skyscraper.
The project is developed by TM Grupo Inmobiliario.
The construction plan includes various amenities for residents, including gyms, pools, a private cinema, and a sky bar with an observation deck for stargazers.
Construction is planned to begin this year and be completed by 2028.
The luxurious building will cost 27.5 million euros (23,907,950 pounds sterling).
This skyscraper will also commemorate the 900th anniversary of Benidorm's founding.
Until the 1950s, this Spanish coastal town was just a fishing village.
After its completion, it will be the fourth tallest building in Spain, surpassed only by TM Intempo (202 m).
The new building's height falls short of Torre de Cristal in Madrid (816 feet), Torre Moye (813 feet), and Torre PWC (774 feet).

Since the 1960s, Benidorm's skyline has earned the nickname Beni-York and is now celebrated by urbanists for its efficiency.
José Luis Camarasa, the city's chief architect from 1981 to 2024, told El Pais about "building coefficients."
"The slimmer the building, the taller it can be," he explained.
"Thus, our current benchmark is New York," he added.

According to a recent urban plan, 65 percent of Benidorm's area should remain public, and only 10 percent may be built upon.
"It's a famous anecdote about a pack of cigarettes standing upright," said Camarasa.
"If you raise it and stand it vertically, it has the same density."
Benidorm, once described as "very tall and resembling Vegas" in travel guides, boasts one of the densest collections of skyscrapers in Europe, helping to reduce urban sprawl.
"Over these 50 years, 30,000 homes have been built," Camarasa said.
"This figure, during the boom, could be reached in just a few years in any coastal city in Alicante."
"My dream has always been to break the Shard record in London (1,017 feet)," he added.
The new TM tower will not surpass the Shard but will add new height to the skyline for sunset lovers.
