Strikes on Crimean Airfields
According to Novyny.live: Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) has conducted a second strike this week on the Russian military airfields 'Saky' and 'Gvardiyske' in Crimea, targeting aircraft hangars and destroying Russian warplanes. The attack on the Saky airfield occurred on July 3. At least seven Russian aircraft were hit in the operation, including:
- Su-30SM fighter jets
- Su-30 aircraft
- Su-24 bombers
At the Saky airfield, seven hangars housing Russian aviation equipment were struck.
Additionally, the Gvardiyske airfield was also hit, with two hangars containing Shahed-type drones damaged. This marks the second attack on the Saky airfield within the current week. The SBU's actions are part of a 40-day operation aimed at destroying enemy military assets.
Impact on the Conflict
These strikes highlight an escalation in military operations by Ukraine's Security Service in Crimea, potentially signaling a new phase of the conflict in the region. The destruction of Russian military aircraft and drones will undoubtedly affect the ability of Russian forces to conduct aerial operations and could shift the balance of power in the area. The operation also underscores Ukraine's focus on strategic targets, which may have significant implications for the future course of the conflict.
