Seven Russian Aircraft Destroyed in Crimea as Ukraine Hits 'Saky' and 'Gvardiiske' Airfields.
Strikes on 'Saky' and 'Gvardiiske' Airfields
According to Espreso.tv: Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) carried out a strike on hangars at the 'Saky' and 'Gvardiiske' airfields, destroying or damaging at least seven aircraft, including fighter jets and bombers. These airfields serve as key aviation bases for Russian forces in Crimea.
At the 'Saky' airfield, seven hangars storing Su-30SM, Su-30, and Su-24 fighter jets were hit. During the attack, five drone impacts on the hangars were confirmed. At the time of the strike, two of these hangars contained Su-30 and Su-30SM fighter jets. Each of these aircraft is valued between $30 and $50 million.
Damage at 'Gvardiiske' Airfield
Two hangars were also struck at the 'Gvardiiske' military airfield, which housed Shahed-type drones and aviation equipment. This attack underscores the importance of SBU operations in dismantling Russian military infrastructure in occupied territories.
This strike is part of Ukraine's systematic efforts to weaken Russia's military capability in Crimea, potentially shaping the conflict's trajectory. The destruction of aircraft and the reduction of enemy resources could create favorable conditions for Ukrainian offensive operations. Such strikes highlight Ukraine's strategy to regain control over occupied territories and enhance regional security.
