Business for the Chosen: Expert Popенко Harshly Criticized the Installation of Solar Panels on High-Rises.
Expert Declared the Inefficiency of Installing Solar Power Stations on Apartment Buildings
Ukrainian energy sector expert Oleg Popenko shared his opinion on the installation of solar power stations (SPS) on apartment buildings. He believes this practice to be "absolute evil".
According to the expert, the expenditure of budgetary and co-owners' funds on installing SPS in such buildings is unreasonable. Every year, hundreds of millions of hryvnias are spent on SPS in 10-12 high-rises, whereas this money could be used to replace networks in 100 buildings.
The expert emphasized the necessity of conducting a technical audit and determining the priority needs of such buildings before installing SPS. In Ukraine, there are tens of thousands of buildings in need of major repairs, so installing SPS seems illogical in this context.
Popenko also pointed out the financial obstacles to installing SPS, particularly in war conditions. In his estimation, the power stations would break even only after 15 years, thus making this practice beneficial only for select individuals.
