Boris Johnson: Britain may send troops to Ukraine due to reduced US support.
Britain may send troops to Ukraine if US support is reduced
Former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has suggested the possibility of sending troops to Ukrainian Kiev if funding from Donald Trump is cut. According to Johnson, if Russia gains the upper hand in the conflict, Great Britain is obliged to do more to protect the Ukrainian capital.
Johnson warns that the newly elected US president may listen to some pro-Russian figures who have 'crazy' ideas about war. He argues that if Ukraine falls into hostile hands, it will be a threat to all European countries where democracy borders Russia.
In addition, Johnson notes that the current US and other allies' spending on assistance to Ukraine is an 'investment' against future Russian and Chinese expansion. He believes this could prevent the need to send ground troops.
Johnson also warns that a defeat in Ukraine will have consequences for other countries such as the Baltic states, Georgia, and the South China Sea.
