Bosnia and Herzegovina suffers from floods and earthquake aftermath: fatalities reported.
An earthquake with a magnitude of 3 on the Richter scale was registered in Bosnia and Herzegovina this morning in the area of Jablanica, reported the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC).
The earthquake was recorded at 6:02.
According to unofficial information, the number of fatalities due to floods and landslides in Jablanica has risen to over 10 people, reports Sarajevo Times.
Last night, Jablanica suffered from heavy rainfall, causing numerous problems, prompting the Mountain Rescue Service to call on all citizens who can assist in the rescue operation.
According to the latest information, the Neretva River has overflowed its banks.
In an extraordinary session, the presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina unanimously decided to deploy the resources of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina across the broader area of the Jablanica municipality.
As announced by the government of Bosnia and Herzegovina, numerous units of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina were deployed.
«Engineering units, rescue units, and a helicopter of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina were urgently deployed to provide immediate assistance to the civilian authorities in responding to the natural disaster – severe floods and landslides in the broader area of the Jablanica municipality,» – stated the press service of the presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
