Brazilian court fined social network X and provider Starlink one million dollars

The Supreme Court of Brazil found that social network X and satellite internet provider Starlink, owned by American entrepreneur Elon Musk, must pay nearly one million dollars in fines for operating one day in the country after a complete block. This was reported by the BBC.

The authorities of Brazil fined Elon Musk's company after some users in the country were able to briefly access the X social network platform, despite the ban imposed by the authorities last month

The Brazilian court imposed a fine of five million reals (920 thousand dollars) on the company for violating the ban.

Supreme Court Judge Alexander de Moraes stated that the social network used a technical maneuver by changing providers even for a short period.

Previously, Elon Musk's companies ignored the Brazilian court's decisions, including Judge de Moraes's ruling that led to the ban on social network access in August.

Company X explained the sudden access for some users by stating that the change of provider resulted in an unintentional and temporary restoration of service for users in Brazil.

While we expect the platform to be unavailable in Brazil again soon, we continue to work with the Brazilian government to restore it for Brazilian residents very soon
