Brazil unblocked the work of the social network X.
The Supreme Court of Brazil lifted the ban on the platform X
The Supreme Court of Brazil lifted the ban on the platform X after the company met all previously imposed requirements. This was reported by the BBC.
Judge Alexandre de Moraes stated in his decision that the lifting of the ban on X takes effect immediately, after the company paid fines and blocked accounts spreading misinformation.
In total, X paid fines amounting to 28 million reais (5.1 million dollars). The company also appointed its representative in Brazil.
According to the court's decision, Brazil's telecommunications regulator Anatel was instructed to ensure the resumption of services for over 20 million users in the country within 24 hours.
Recall that at the end of August, Judge de Moraes ordered to block access to platform X after the company refused to block several accounts that, according to the authorities, spread misinformation about the 2022 Brazilian presidential elections.
On September 20, the Supreme Court of Brazil ruled that the social network X and satellite internet provider Starlink, owned by American businessman Elon Musk, are required to pay a fine of nearly a million dollars for one day of operation in the country following a complete blockade, reports the BBC.
Brazil is one of the largest markets for the social network X in the world and the largest market in Latin America.
