British woman may return home instead of 60 years in prison for cocaine: case details

According to The Sun: A British woman who could receive 60 years in prison in America after being caught with £15 million worth of drugs may return home in a year.

Kim Hall, a 29-year-old woman, was arrested at O'Hare airport in Chicago with 43 kg of class A drugs packed into two suitcases.

She faced a lengthy imprisonment for drug trafficking charges.

However, according to The Sun, a deal stipulates that she will serve only part of her potential prison sentence.

Today, Hall appeared in court in Chicago, where she planned to enter a plea deal for a prison term of four to six years.

It is expected that she will serve only half of that term, and the year she has spent in custody will also be counted.

It now looks as though she could be home in a year or two.

Today's hearing was adjourned for additional negotiations, and a final verdict is expected next month.

After the parties reach a plea deal, considering the circumstance that she was forced to carry an 'unknown' suitcase - which she believed contained $250,000 - from Mexico to the UK under the influence of two Britons, the woman's family will feel a great joy at the prospect of a reduced sentence.
Kim Hall may return home in a year after she finalizes a plea deal regarding her drug smuggling case. Her family is already rejoicing at the possibility of a reduced sentence.
