Tragedy during a dangerous game in Houston

According to The Sun: A British former marine died when he and his friend decided to play a game of shooting at each other's heads while wearing bulletproof helmets.

Sean O'Donnell, 37, and Aaron Prut, 34, took turns shooting each other with a rifle in a house in Houston, Texas, on August 17.

The game ended in tragedy, and Aaron, a veteran of the British Royal Marines, died.

The Harris County Sheriff, Ed Gonzalez, reported that law enforcement received a call and “found an adult who appeared to have suffered a gunshot wound to the head.”

He noted that the victim was rushed to the hospital, but he died from his injuries.

O'Donnell, the homeowner in the northern suburbs, was arrested on suspicion of murder.

The sheriff said:

“It's hard to believe that two so-called friends were taking turns shooting at each other while wearing bulletproof helmets in a residential neighborhood using a rifle.”

Initially, the incident was considered a possible suicide, but according to police, “things just didn’t add up.”

Authorities reported that the truth “eventually came to light” after a thorough investigation.

It is unclear what model of rifle the friends used and from what distance they were shooting.

It is also not specified whether the bullet hit Prut's helmet or passed by it.

A bulletproof helmet does not guarantee 100% protection.

Prut's family, devastated by his death, shared that he served in the British Royal Marines for 10 years before moving to Texas – “a place where he was happy and loved.”

They wrote on Facebook:

“Aaron's death has left me absolutely shattered; it's the worst news I've ever received.”

“Aaron was a very caring and wonderful man, always there for his friends, living his life to the fullest.”

The family also shared that Aaron had a great job, was starting his own business, and his passion was target shooting, where he won many tournaments.

Next, the family noted that Aaron always knew how to lift people's spirits, and his laughter accompanied stories of his faraway and amazing adventures.

“He was known as one of the best jokers, always with a smile on his face and a kind heart.”

O'Donnell also turned out to be a military veteran, as evidenced by his social media.

He has been charged with the murder of Prut and was taken into custody at the Harris County jail on Thursday.

This tragic event draws attention to dangerous games played by young people, ignoring the risks. Shooting during such games can have fatal consequences, which has already become a reality in Aaron Prut's case. The investigation continues, and the community awaits transparent answers that will help prevent similar incidents in the future.
