The Appointment of Budanov as Head of the Office: How It Will Affect Negotiations with the USA and Zaluzhnyi's Fate.
According to ТСН: The media popularity of Kyrylo Budanov in the United States may have influenced Volodymyr Zelensky's decision to appoint him as head of the President's Office.
This opinion was expressed by Taras Zhovtenko, an expert on international security at the Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation. He believes that Budanov's appointment is particularly important given the current situation around peace negotiations and efforts by Ukraine, along with Europe, to influence Donald Trump and his team.
Expert's Position
"In these conditions, when the Russians have again activated their information influence on the US presidential administration, our choice in favor of Budanov, who is known and viewed positively by Americans, is a winning move," Zhovtenko believes.
The expert also points out the internal political context. In his opinion, Budanov takes into account the example of Zaluzhnyi, and thus draws certain conclusions.
"Looking at General Zaluzhnyi, who was ultimately sent beyond Ukraine, with restrictions on his communication with the domestic audience, Budanov accepted Zelensky's proposal to maintain access to the Ukrainian public. Thus, he safeguarded himself from Zaluzhnyi's fate," noted the analyst.
Zhovtenko suggests that President Zelensky may be trying to 'neutralize' a potential competitor in the elections. Budanov, by accepting the proposal to head the Office, wants to maintain his influence on the Ukrainian audience and stay in the media space.
It is worth noting that political scientist Oleg Saakyan also expressed a similar point of view, claiming that Budanov will actually head the negotiation group on behalf of Ukraine.
Let us remind you that President Volodymyr Zelensky appointed Kyrylo Budanov as the head of his Office. This decision could become an important step for Ukraine in the context of complex international politics, as Budanov is a key player in discussions with Western partners regarding peace and security in the region. Observers note that this appointment reflects not only Ukraine's strategic interests but also the desire for a more active dialogue with international allies. Budanov's position in this role could significantly influence the course of events in the future.
