Ukraine Cannot Fully Resolve Mobilization Before War Ends, Says Budanov.
Mobilization Amidst the War in Ukraine
According to Novyny.live: Kyrylo Budanov, the head of Ukraine's Presidential Office, has stated that the issue of military mobilization cannot be fully settled before the war concludes. He emphasized that this is not a challenge unique to Ukraine, but a universal one faced by nations in conflict. Budanov remarked:
'No country in the world has ever been able to fully resolve the question of mobilization during wartime, and none will. Ukraine will be no exception in this regard.'
Ukraine has been engaged in a full-scale war of Russian aggression for four years, following an eight-year conflict in its eastern regions. In response to the ongoing war, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has disclosed that the country mobilizes between 30,000 and 34,000 individuals each month, highlighting the continuous efforts to maintain national defense.
Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has also announced the development of a plan to address mobilization challenges. Budanov further highlighted the profound moral and social complexities of the situation, posing a critical question:
'Is a person living in Ukraine, where war has raged for 12 years—four of them full-scale—right or wrong to think that someone else should be the one to fight?'
These comments underscore that mobilization is not merely a logistical issue but a deep socio-psychological challenge for Ukrainian society. The prolonged conflict and constant call to arms significantly impact the national consciousness, indicating a need for a more nuanced understanding of the war's psychological toll. While state institutions continue to seek ways to bolster defense capabilities, it is clear that a comprehensive approach and broader societal dialogue are essential to address this multifaceted problem.
